Ethernet Cables: How Far Can Your Internet Go Before Slowing Down?

Imagine you're trying to send a secret message across a really, really long string to your friend. The longer the string, the harder it is for your voice to reach them clearly, right?

That's kind of how an Ethernet cable works! An Ethernet cable is like a special road that connects your computer or game console directly to your internet router. It's often much faster and more reliable than Wi-Fi, especially when you're playing online games or streaming your favorite shows in super high quality.

But just like that long string, if an Ethernet cable is too long, the internet 'message' (which is actually electricity!) can start to get a little tired. It can lose some of its strength, and that means your super-speedy internet might not be so super-speedy anymore. Usually, this happens when a standard cable is longer than about 100 meters (that's like the length of a football field!).
